I’m not going to wast your time explaining how important building backlinks is. I’m pretty sure that’s been pounded into your skull enough. So I’m just going to cut to the chase. Here’s a short list of some of my favorite and FREE backlink building tools.
SocialMonkee.com - SocialMonkee.com is a great little tool that lets you quickly and easily get 25 permanent social bookmark links every day. These social bookmark sites aren’t the big boys like Digg, Delicious, etc.; in fact, they are pretty much unused by humans and exist only for SEO as part of SocialMonkee.com’s proprietary network, but I’ve seen these links get indexed by Google MUCH faster than links on the big social media sites. While these links individually aren’t that powerful, when doing 25 a day you quickly rack up quite a hefty repository of permanent backlinks on unique domains. This is a daily ritual for me. If you’d like to get more than 25 links per day, you can upgrade to a premium package for a one-time $47 fee.
Comment Kahuna - This program installs on your local machine and aggregates websites that allow comments based on keywords you give it look for. It can find all manner of blog platforms and it even seeks out blogs using the plugins CommentLuv and KeywordLuv. Although you do fill out pre-set profile information and generic comments, their process isn’t entirely automated. You don’t just hit the GO button and let it do its thing. You still have to cycle through each blog it’s found and click a button to auto-post your comment, or you can write a custom comment. Personally, I find the value of this tool in it’s ability to find blogs for commenting. I don’t use the auto-posting feature at all, but compose unique relevant comments for each blog which are much more likely to get published anyway. It also stores the work you’ve done so that you can generate reports.
VoltRank.com - VoltRank.com’s service works sort of like a link exchange, but not really. You aren’t doing a direct link swap with anyone. Instead, you place a chunk of code on your site that displays links with ads much in the style of Google Adsense. In return, your links go into their system and gets displayed on other sites who have installed the same chunk of code. These links aren’t permanent. If you remove your display code your links are removed from the system.
OnlyWire.com - OnlyWire.com is an online tool used for submitting to large social bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, etc., etc. Their UI is very slick and easy to use. There is some initial setup that can be tedious, basically, setting up accounts at all of the 50+ social network sites they push content to, but once that’s done the tool makes posting very easy. You can post from their website, or install a browser plugin that will let you post from anywhere. Their free account lets you post up to 300 times per month.
FreeTrafficSystem.com - Here we have a content swapping / sharing network. If you’re looking for backlinks you can submit an article into the system and have it picked up by tons of relevant blogs that you hand pick from their network. In order to ensure a certain level of unique content, you are required to spin your articles using their spinning system, which works great, but can be a bit cumbersome to set up. Each article can have up to 2 backlinks in it. On the other side, if you need content for your blog, you can submit it to their network and receive fresh content from those submitting articles.
